      Hello,

Following the replacement of my mast, I’m having a lot of trouble hoisting and lowering the mainsail, as the bolt rope (diameter 9 mm) rubs a lot in the mast track. The new mast is a Zspars Z351 profile, which seems to match the old one.

I’m considering 2 solutions, either to fit an 8 mm bolt rope, or to install sliders. What do you think would be the most suitable solution? I’m familiar with the bolt rope (previous solution) but would like some feedback on the slider version.

      Thank you for your feedback

Even with Teflon on the bolt rope? No progress?

Thanks for starting this post. I’ve just ordered a GV, and in my mind it was with slides like the previous one (inherited from the previous owner). So I’ve just asked the supplier to clarify, especially as solo, the bolt rope version seems difficult to assemble and trim.

Just so you know, it’s a good thing I ordered, because on August 24, in a gale in Italy, the mainsail ripped (and the pilot decided to go on strike).

            Hello,
I’m changing from a bolt rope mainsail to a mainsail equipped with sliders and I’m faced with the problem of blocking the sail feeder window. I’m interested in any solution that meets my needs. If anyone has any feedback to share, it would be a great help.

            Thank you for your answers

              Hello,

You’ll find a specific blocker at Zspar, which matches the Pogo 850 mast.

Otherwise, a word of advice: put some PTFE on the sliders and spread it around the mast, otherwise it will jam, especially the faceplate.

And to avoid the misadventure that happened to me this summer with a new mainsail, prefer free-hinged slides rather than rigid (sewn) ones. Otherwise very difficult to hoist.
