Douarnenez gathering closes 2024 season

The last gathering of 2024, in Douarnenez, was held in mixed weather.

11 boats were present: 5 Pogo 8.50, 3 Pogo 30, 2 Pogo 10.50 and 1 Pogo 36, from the English Channel and the Atlantic coast, from Saint-Malo to Saint Gilles Croix de Vie.

Friday, welcoming the boats

Start under spinnaker, Saturday morning

On Saturday, we set off in light airs, under spinnaker, as far as Basse Vieille. The wind is so light off Cap de la Chèvre that we have to decide to stop the course, 1 M from the buoy.

On Cavok 2, however, the wind returned to the bay, from the west, enabling us to make a fine series of gybes under asymmetric spinnaker, and to arrive in time for the rest of the race: finish drinks, preparation of the dining room and the prizes.

Thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the evening, which brought together some forty participants.

The next day, the weather changes dramatically: rain is forecast for the morning and we have to cancel the start. Some chose to leave immediately, to avoid the bad weather ahead. They seem to have had less rain at sea than in port…

See you next year!
