Friction ring vs. portholes

we’ve already heard of 2 cases of portholes being broken by the large friction rings on the genoa sheets. A loop on the bottom of the bungee cord, and a prussik (or hump) knot on the lower shroud, and you’re done!
Unless you accept that the jib doesn’t go in properly, the bungee cord isn’t taut enough to prevent shocks. For my part, I sheathed the ring with rope to absorb shocks.
The sheathing line is actually the end of the line which is used to fully retract the clew in light airs.
