Hello,
New owner of a pogo 8.50 (2004) based in the Mediterranean, I would like to renew her genoa and mainsail (hydranet 2016) which seem a bit tired.
I don’t think I’ll be racing, but I’d like “moderately” high-performance sails.
I’m wondering about the relevance of buying second-hand regatta sails (I’d like to wear out the mainsail, and I’m ready to give up the furler for the genoa)?
What do you think?
I don’t know the price of this kind of used sails…
Thank you for your answers
11 January 2024 at 22:02 #16460Hello,
A bit surprised that 2016 hydranet sails are tired, but it depends above all on the number of miles of use.
For the use of racing sails, it can be a good idea to have sails with a nice shape but they must be recent. Unfortunately, the materials used for racing sails often age quickly, delaminating within three to four seasons of use. So when you buy a sail, look out for signs of delamination and wear in all areas where the fabric is crumpled in use and when folded..

12 January 2024 at 18:37 #16471On the labonnevoile.fr website, there’s a Pogo 850 mainsail, reputed to be brand-new, and therefore almost at the price of a new sail (3250€).

To answer Xavier, maybe it’s the man who’s a bit worn out, but he prefers to blame the machine 😉
A lovely evening
