We gave just taken Pogo 8.50 ‘THUMPER’ - see picture below - which had been for sale privately lying on the Beaulieu River in Hampshire. The boat now has a new home in Whitehills (chart attached for info) on the Moray Firth which is beautiful traditional fishing harbour that was converted to a marina approximately 20 years ago. The plan is for ourselves to campaign on the race course within a mixed fleet - typically sailing under the Clyde Cruising Club (Glasgow) handicap system. We are currently in the process of making our application with boat and sail details to receive the CCC rating. This year has taken the majority of racing off the calendar so we may have to contend with lots of training as well as some longer passage sailing. In 2021 we would Plan to head to the west coast of Scotland to West Highland Week based on Oban - taking the boat across from our home port makes this a 3 week campaign going through the Caledonia Canal. A great trip for sure. There may also be scope to heading to the Scottish Series based at Tarbert on Loch Fyne - this to be decided as yet. In terms of what to expect to take from the Association - good question. Possibly boat information guides and sailing guidance possibly some info on NKE equipment. Speed tips and tuning guidance. There may also be some Sail plan info and polars that can be shared. I'm sure there will be great knowledge across the members that can benefit our experience with the boat. So far we've been really impressed with both speed and handling feel of the boat. In terms of what we can give back then we are very keen to support the Association and members in whatever way we can. We have a growing list of places to visit with no shortage of people looking to come with us - the boat has attracted lots of early admirers.
