Hello,
I can now start work on the headsails on my Pogo 850. The genoa has been replaced. I inherited a Solent arrisable, but, if we’re at the stage of putting in the 2nd reef, it doesn’t go well with the drop stay. I was wondering whether I should get a sail adapted to this forestay (staysail or ORC).
Do I need to add runners? Who has done this kind of setup? In short, when the wind picks up, what is the right sail?
Note: my genoa is on carabiners, no furler.
Hello
I also own a pogo 8.50 “Prim Avel” since 2004.
It is equipped with an ORC. It’s the perfect headsail for strong breezes. There’s no need for runners. However, if you have two reefs in the mainsail, you’ll need to rig the forestay.
Happy sailing.
Thank you François for these indications,
If there’s no storm, it simplifies the problem. I’ve already been caught in an unheralded storm off Nice, and in such cases it’s best to act quickly.
Happy sailing (still authorized here, despite the weekend’s confinement),
